Turkey Burger Sliders with Portobello Mushroom Buns

Day10
Turkey Burger Sliders with Portobello Mushroom Buns
RATINGS  Me:10!  Husband:6 "those aren't buns"  Kids: 5

I made these as sliders because I found portobello mushroom sliders at Wegmans but these can be made bigger with regular sized portobello mushrooms.

Recipe
Prep Time: 30 min  Total Time: 30 min Servings:4-6
 Ingredients
  • 2 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 1 pack portobello mushroom sliders (2 for each burger) or however many you need
  • lettuce and tomato for burgers
Guacamole Ingredients
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1/2 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400. While preheating, Wash and de-stem mushrooms.  Pat dry and rub both sides with a tiny amount of olive oil and then season with salt and pepper if you like.  Place on a baking sheet "gill" side up and bake for 8-10 minutes then flip and cook an additional 8-10 minutes and remove from oven
  2. Meanwhile, in a bowl combine ground turkey breast with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper and mix.  Create slider sized or regular sized patties depending on your mushroom size.
  3. Place remaining olive oil in skillet at medium heat and cook patties, flipping half way through.
  4.  In a bowl combine guacamole ingredients and mash until creamy.
  5. Place lettuce and tomato on top of one mushroom bun, then add patty, guacamole, and top with other mushroom bun.
  6. Great with sweet potato fries, see recipe here
